Fitness & Wellness Center

Youth Fitness Programs

Our Fitness & Wellness Center is now offering Youth Fitness Programs for kids and teens between the ages of 9 and 13.

Young athletes will experience camaraderie and team-building in a safe, supportive and high-energy environment. Coach-to-athlete ratios are optimized for individual instruction and attention. While our program is great for developing assets applicable to sports performance, children and teens that are not on a formal sports team are welcome.

Youth Fitness Program

Our Youth Fitness Program is designed for ages 9 to 13. Membership at the Fitness & Wellness Center is not necessary for children and teens to participate.

This strength-and-conditioning program offers:

  • Cardiovascular training through running, rowing and jumping rope
  • Speed and agility training through plyometrics, box jumps, footwork drills and more
  • Core strength and competency in body-weight movements
  • Strength development using weight training and other resistance work

We prioritize proper movement mechanics to optimize safety and efficiency in our athletes. Our emphasis is on overall strength and conditioning, as opposed to specialized, sport-specific instruction.

If parents of participants in our Youth Fitness program are non-members, they can work out for free while their child is training.

All classes are limited to 12 participants. For questions or registration information, contact our fitness manager, Lisie Gainsborough, at egainsborough@nch.org or 847-618-3523.

Private Swim Lessons

Age: 2 years and up

We believe that learning water safety skills early on can help prevent accidents and can give children the tools they need in case an accident does occur. Our Swim Lessons are designed for any child beginner to advance from 2 years old and up. They will learn blowing bubbles, floating, jumping and kicking unassisted. They will also learn various swim strokes. Each session is 30 minutes.

Semi-private Swim Lessons

Semi-private lessons teach cooperation and teamwork. Semi-Private Lessons include two swimmers and are only recommended if the participants are similar in skill level. When children learn how to swim with another peer, they engage in social interaction. This allows for bonding between the children, making learning more fun. If your child has never had swim lessons before or is uncomfortable in the water, we suggest starting with a Private Swim Lesson first. This will allow them to get comfortable in the water and learn water safety skills with one-on-one instruction

Private and Semi-private Lessons Availability:

Monday – Friday after School

Sundays and Sundays 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.

Please contact Gilda Khalaj at 847-618-3665 or gkhalaj@nch.org to begin your sessions.
