Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is hosting its annual event to honor and remember all babies lost through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth and newborn death. The Walk to Remember event to be held Sunday, October 14 at 2 p.m. includes a memorial service in the hospital auditorium, 800 W. Central Road, a walk around the hospital grounds, a gathering in the Renew Through Sharing Memorial Garden and refreshments. Bereaved parents, children, family members, friends and employees are all welcome to attend.
“This is a special event where parents, siblings, and families can come and honor the lives of their babies, while being surrounded by other families who have also experienced loss and understand their grief,” says Jill Kottmeier, Perinatal Palliative Care Coordinator.
Parking is available in Parking Garage A. Use Entrance #4 and follow the signs to the auditorium.
In an effort to respect the environment, NCH will no longer have a balloon release. There will be a bubble ceremony to honor babies.
The hospital welcomes around 50 families each year to the event, which is presented by the NCH Renew through Sharing Program. The program supports families grieving the loss of a baby. If you would like your baby’s name in the program, please contact Jill Kottmeier, R.N., BSN, CPLC at jkottmeier@nch.org or call 847-618-8415.
