Learn moreThere is an undeniable link between overall health and oral health. Studies show that poor oral health may be linked to heart disease, stroke, pre-term childbirth and oral cancer. A report on oral health by the U.S. Surgeon General documented connections between oral disease and ear and sinus infections, weakened immune systems, diabetes and heart and lung disease as well as many other serious health conditions. That’s why we feel this service is so important to our community.
We launched this program in 2003, and have served over 34,000 patients in that time. This clinic provides preventive and restorative oral health services to individuals who have an income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level or are on General Assistance or Medicaid. While many dental clinics focus on treating emergencies, our program emphasizes the importance of overall oral health by helping patients develop a habit of regular cleanings and exams and establishing a permanent dental home.
The clinic operates in partnership with Elk Grove, Palatine, Wheeling and Schaumburg townships. The staff includes a full-time dentist, program manager and dental assistant. Volunteer dentists, hygienists and assistants also provide hundreds of hours of care along with University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) fourth-year students.
Dental professionals interested in volunteering at the Mobile Dental Clinic should call 847-618-5573 or email us.
The townships’ General Assistance staff determines treatment eligibility for residents of Elk Grove, Palatine, Wheeling and Schaumburg townships. A $30 co-pay is charged for most adult appointments, and there is no co-pay for children. For more information or to qualify for the program, please contact your township:
