Why I vaccinate

NCH employees are passionate about the health of their loved ones and their community. We’ve asked them to share their personal reason for getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

Paula experienced COVID-19 up close and personal, when her husband was off work for eight weeks while he fought the virus at home. She fully supports the vaccination efforts and has been instrumental in the management of NCH’s Vaccine Clinic.

If you’ve already been vaccinated, whether at NCH or another healthcare provider, we thank you! If you haven’t, it’s not too late to protect yourself. Vaccines are available for free at the five NCH Immediate Care Centers (ICCs). Appointments are available at our ICCs in Buffalo Grove, Kildeer, Mount Prospect, Schaumburg and on the campus of Harper College.

Why I got vaccinated: I am a mother of three adult children and a grandmother of three lively grandsons. My mother has a multitude of health problems after surviving three brainstem strokes and breast cancer. My husband contracted COVID-19 in early March and was very sick and off work for eight weeks, so I was one of the first to line up to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to protect my family. My husband suffers from post COVID-19 issues and I want to do everything I can to protect my family and myself. I have known people who have actually died from COVID-19 so I ask — Why would you not get vaccinated? Be smart and get vaccinated!
