Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) announces that Sotirios Vasilopoulos, M.D., a gastroenterologist trained in interventional endoscopy, including ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration, has partnered with Willis Parsons, M.D., Medical Director of the NCH Digestive Disorders Center.
The Digestive Disorders Center at NCH treats patients for prevention, early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal as well as liver disorders. Dr. Vasilopoulos joins Dr. Parsons at the Center for Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy (CATE) at NCH to support quick access to services, including general GI procedures (colonoscopy and upper endoscopy) as well as interventional procedures.
Commenting on his recruitment, Dr. Parsons said, “NCH will greatly benefit from the addition of a physician of such high caliber as Dr. Vasilopoulos. We will be able to expand our interventional procedure services and provide more efficient care to the community and to our referring physicians.”
Dr. Vasilopoulos earned his medical degree from the University of Athens – School of Medicine in Athens, Greece and completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship with Dr. Parsons at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He worked as Chief of the GI Service Line at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Michigan and served as a clinical instructor at Michigan State University. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
