Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) opens new location to serve Luther Village

Responding to a need to serve older adults in the community, Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) has opened an NCH Medical Group Physician Office inside the Lutheran Home at 800 West Oakton St. in Arlington Heights. The physician office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and accepts scheduled and walk-in appointments for residents of Luther Village and the Lutheran Home as well as the surrounding community. Luther Village is a residential community for active people ages 55 and older. Lutheran Home is a memory care facility that includes short-term rehab, assisted living and residential healthcare options.

Close to 50 people attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, April 26 at the Lutheran Home. NCH medical staff greeted residents and told them about the services offered at the new location. Leadership from NCH and the Lutheran Home gave opening remarks, along with Village of Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes, and then cut the ribbon.

“It’s all about partnerships and I can’t think of two organizations that have done more for the community than Northwest Community Hospital and the Lutheran Home,” Mayor Hayes told the crowd.

Many seniors toured the examination rooms and made appointments with Primary Care Physician Michael E. Glickman, M.D., who serves as Medical Director; Gerontologist Jowella Pineda, M.D.; and Nancy Kinyanjui, APN.

Seniors were served sweets at the ceremony, and they learned about the free valet parking and free shuttle bus, the latter of which runs hourly from Luther Village to the Lutheran Home weekdays from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. The shuttle bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift.

In an earlier press release, Dr. Glickman said, “Residents have the convenience of having a clinic within their community while having the confidence that they’re receiving the comprehensive and quality care that NCH and the NCH Medical Group stand for.”
