The percentage of non-ambulating (non-walking) ischemic stroke patients who had deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis started by the end of their second day in the hospital. Patients experiencing a stroke that involves a paretic or paralyzed lower extremity are at increased risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (blood clots). Prophylaxis is a preventive measure.
