Patient Financial Assistance

For families without insurance who need help with medical bills, we accept Illinois Public Aid. In addition, you may qualify for financial assistance for medical bills through Northwest Community Hospital.

  • If you need help with hospital bill obligations, please contact our Patient Financial Services office at 847.618.4747, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am–4 pm. You may also fax us at 847.618.4719.
  • Financial counselors are available by phone at 847.618.4542, Monday through Friday, 7 am–6 pm.
  • Financial counselors are also available to meet with you in our Patient Services Center, Monday through Thursday, 8 am–6:30 pm, and Friday, 8 am–4:30 pm. The Patient Services Center is located in the North Pavilion.
  • For help with medical expenses, you may simply drop in or you can also call 847.618.4542 or 847.618.4536 to schedule an appointment.

Financial counselors

NCH financial counselors can answer any questions about your medical expenses. They also can talk to your insurance company about outstanding claims, ask for and accept payments, collect self-pay balances prior to services/admission, set up payment plans, facilitate loan applications and help with completing applications for financial assistance for medical bills and/or package-priced services.

In addition, our financial counselors will review payment and funding options that may be available to you, including applications for Illinois Medicaid, Kid Care or Family Care programs, Illinois Violent Crime Victims' Assistance Fund, other government-sponsored plans, grants, community funding, financial assistance and/or charity care.

Self-pay patients eligible for discounts

We offer financial assistance to uninsured patients who qualify. We also offer discounts for prompt payment for self-pay patients.

Applying for patient financial assistance

To apply for patient financial assistance at NCH, please download and print the Financial Assistance Application (available in English and Spanish) and complete all necessary fields. Please be sure to provide all requested documentation to be considered for financial assistance and/or the hospital services discounted rate.

If you have Medicare and require outpatient services, please bring your physician's order with you. If Medicare does not cover the services ordered, you may be asked to sign a Medicare form (an Advance Beneficiary Notice) stating you have been told about your payment responsibility.
