At NCH, we are committed to helping you live better and be happier. We offer a wide range of support groups that can help you deal with a variety of issues. We believe that good things happen when you share your experiences with others in the same situation.

Support for alcoholics and families of alcoholics

Alcoholism is considered by many to be a family disease, affecting not only the drinker but family and friends.

Alcoholics Anonymous

If you think you may have a problem with alcohol, there is help. There is an AA meeting held at NCH on Monday nights at 7:30 pm in the 901 W. Kirchoff Rd., Arlington Heights. To speak to someone or find additional meetings in Cook County, call 800.371.1475 or 312.346.1475. For meetings in Palatine and northwest suburbs, call 847.359.3311. You can also visit www.aa-nia.org to learn more.

Al-Anon Family Groups

If you have been affected by someone else's drinking, there is help too. Al-Anon Family Groups is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not. Al-Anon holds an open meeting, with an Al-Anon and an AA speaker, every Sunday night at 7:30 pm in Room 6&7 of Northwest Community Hospital (go in Entrance 4 and ask for directions). Another Al-Anon meeting is held in the same room on Monday nights at 7:30 pm. For more information, contact 1.847.618.2700 or go to www.niafg.org.
