Non-Surgical Procedures

There are several procedures you may have that involve anesthesia but are not technically surgery. These procedures include:

  • Interventional radiology—Concentrates on the treatment of vascular disorders of the brain and spinal cord, utilizing minimally invasive techniques that rely on image-guided navigation within the blood vessels. Most frequently used to treat cancer and strokes, as well as for some gynecological procedures.
  • Neurointerventional stroke procedures—Uses minimally invasive technology to significantly diminish, if not reverse, the effects of a stroke and prevent long-term disability. NCH is one of only two hospitals in the Northwest Suburbs to offer neurointerventional surgery procedures.

If you are having surgery, visit the Patient section for all the pre-op information you need.
