With the opening of the Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases (ICPHD), Northwest Community Hospital is ushering in a new era of advanced treatment for pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, jaundice and other diseases of the hepatobiliary system–consisting of the liver, pancreas and bile ducts.
Because of the expertise of Dr. Malcolm Bilimoria, the director of the Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases at NCH, we are able to offer innovative treatments and therapies for pancreatic cancer and benign cysts normally found only in teaching hospitals.
Dr. Bilimoria is a surgical oncologist who specializes in pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgeries, including the Whipple procedure, a complex surgery to remove tumors in the head of the pancreas. This procedure can markedly increase survival and offers a real chance at a cure for many pancreatic cancer patients.
Dr. Bilimoria frequently works in collaboration with Dr. Willis Parsons, medical director of the NCH Gastroenterology Center. Together they are broadening NCH's ability to provide safe and effective care for patients suffering from symptoms at all stages of pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers.
Whether you have pancreas cancer, pancreatitis, jaundice or any other disease of the liver, pancreas and bile ducts, NCH has the comprehensive services and support you need to get well. Highlights include:
