At NCH our multidisciplinary approach to orthopedic patient care means we partner with you every step of the way, whether you’re having a joint replacement surgery like knee replacement or hip replacement, or receiving treatment for a condition like rheumatoid arthritis or tendonitis.

Our team of skilled orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, specially trained nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and case managers work to develop and implement a treatment plan for each stage of your recovery. That plan includes:

• Pre-operative educational program—This program will familiarize you with what to expect during and after knee replacement, hip replacement or other joint replacement surgeries.
• Pre- and post-operative pain management—Advanced, customized pain management helps block pain before it starts and helps get you back on your feet faster.
• Physical therapy—Physical therapists are available for inpatients seven days a week to help you recover more quickly.
• Follow-up treatment plan—Before you leave the hospital, we establish a personalized follow-up therapy and home healthcare services plan for you.

Currently, our surgeons perform more than 700 knee replacement, hip replacement and other joint replacement surgeries each year—placing our program in the top 10 for joint replacement volume in the Chicago area.
