Learn moreAs a state-of-the-art Level II Trauma Center, our Emergency Department treats approximately 76,000 people annually—experience that makes a real difference in a life-threatening emergency. Because every minute counts when it comes to heart attack and stroke, our cardiac interventional and neurointerventional teams are ready to treat patients with advanced technologies 24/7. Additionally, our dedicated pediatric emergency team includes dedicated nurses and on-site access to board-certified pediatric health care providers from Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Even in an emergency, your comfort and privacy are important to us. Our Emergency Department includes private rooms as well as specialty rooms for trauma, critical care, isolation and behavioral health—all staffed with board-certified emergency nurses and physicians.
We care for pediatric patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at our Pediatric Acute Care Center, adjacent to the main ED at the hospital. Staffed by pediatric-trained physicians and nurses, we provide emergency, primary and specialty care for infants, children and adolescents in collaboration with the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance. The Alliance is a partnership between Advocate Children’s Hospital, University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital and Pediatrics at NorthShore University HealthSystem. Together, we ensure that children and teens receive the care they need, when they need it.
We are fully prepared and ready to safely welcome you, following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health authorities, using the best practices for hygiene, infection control and social distancing. Don’t wait to get the care you need. See how we’re keeping you safe.
Our Emergency Department has been recognized by the state of Illinois as an Emergency Department approved for treating children. The pediatric emergency staff is specially trained to care for children using child-sized equipment and following guidelines for weight-appropriate medications.
